William Carvalho joins Palm City

Carvalho arrives with 80 caps for Portugal and a European Championship winner's medal.

Born in Luanda and raised in Portugal, he came through at Sporting CP and made 193 appearances for the club before moving to Real Betis in 2018. He spent seven seasons in Seville across more than 220 games, becoming one of the most respected holding midfielders in La Liga.

Internationally he has played at three World Cups and two European Championships. He was part of the Portugal squad that won Euro 2016 and the side that lifted the inaugural UEFA Nations League in 2019. At under-21 level he was named player of the tournament at the 2015 European Championship.

He is a midfielder built on control rather than urgency. The range of passing, the reading of a game, the ability to slow a match down or speed it up from the base of midfield — these are the qualities that kept him at the top level in Portugal and Spain for well over a decade.

Carvalho joins a Palm City squad that won the domestic double in 2026 and is chasing promotion to the ADNOC Pro League under new Head Coach Grégory Dufrennes.
